Dreams are a way for the brain, body and your spirit to communicate with you. Sigmund Freud said that our dreams are wishes waiting to be fulfilled. The data from the unconscious mind is not rising to the conscious mind. One simple picture or symbol could have multiple meanings.
According to Annette Noontil in her book ‘The Body is the Barometer of the Soul’, there are two types of dreams – prophetic and symbolic. Prophetic dreams are the real thing and like a picture of what is going to happen. A symbolic dream is just that, and symbols mean different things. Here are the universal dream symbols:
Sun – Spirit or spiritual
White Light – Spirit or spiritual
Water – Spirit or spiritual
House – Your state of consciousness
Baby – A new idea or beginning
Death – Finalization of something such as a habit or concept
Car – Physical direction
Fire – Cleansing
Toilet – Outflow
Book – Knowledge
Pearls – Wisdom
Naked – Free or not hiding anything
Train – Slow direction without deviation (no tracks)
Other symbols having meaning to you only and is dependent on the overall feeling from the dream. If you don’t interpret your dreams or act on them they will keep recurring until you understand them. The same is true for a nightmare, it will continue to distress you until you understand it.
Carl Jung said that dreams are a way of communication and familiarizing yourself with the unconscious mind. He thought it was up to the individual to interpret their own dreams.
Every dream is there to help you work out information you need to work on, to release negativity, to push through limitations, anticipate the future and get inspiration from your higher self, or produce a life you want.
