To understand the concept of a “sign” think of a trip you took, possibly a holiday or vacation, maybe a car trip to somewhere special. Remember how much planning you put into the trip? Did you research what you would do when you arrived, how long the trip would take, and how you would get there? Did you program the satellite navigation in your car with the destination?
Remember the feeling you had when you finally pulled out of your driveway, your car packed with everything you needed? You were finally on your way, full of confidence knowing where you were headed and feeling the joy. This is a typical feeling you get when you start a new challenge or project—you have got the signs and are excited and have enough energy to research and work at the project.
If you tell someone about the project and they respond negatively, you get knocked down and your confidence drops. You might doubt your decision and question yourself. Are your moving in the right direction? Are you on the right path? Using your sign is a mindful meditation exercise.
Your sign is like a highway road sign. The moment you see it you can relax and continue the journey because you are on track.
If you chase a butterfly it will elude you; if you sit and be, soaking up the joy of being, then the butterfly will come and rest on you. The feeling of joy and confidence carries you through the next part of your trip. Meditating on your sign is a great way to bring you back to the present moment.
The navigation system in your car is like the universe; it “knows” where you are! When you are in the flow of spiritual awakening the universe gives you feedback and it’s up to you to take notice. The road signs are there to show you the way. You wouldn’t drive with your eyes shut, so why go through your day with your eyes shut? Your sign is like a sign on the road, guiding you. Your sign is a visual clue to the bigger picture of your life journey. Your sign is about a feeling. I really don’t think it matters what you choose for a sign; rather, it’s about how the sign makes you feel. Thinking thoughts that make you feel good can decrease your stress level, and feeling good feelings when you see your sign will mentally and physically help you. Spiritual awakening is the path to enlightenment. Appreciation and love are the same vibrations. When your sign appears, you can be thankful or smile and this will create the same “feel good” vibrations. You can use your sign to meditate with and is a great mindful meditation tool.
Your sign is your opportunity to connect with your feeling.
Your sign is a gift from the Universe, therefore it is not something produced like a car or a manufactured product. The beauty of nature should be your inspiration.
Miracles happen everyday, your sign is the universe reminding you to take notice.
How To Find Your Sign
Your sign is a visual reminder to be more aware.
The first step to finding your own sign is to start with all butterflies. Notice how many you can spot. While you are doing this, make it fun, like a game you are playing. By looking for any butterfly you will start to become “aware”.
If you understand statistics and probability theory, or if you have a strong mathematical background, this can be helpful since you will understand the likelihood of seeing butterflies. When you buy a new car, you become more aware of the model/colour you have purchased and you will begin to notice similar cars on the road. You are increasing your awareness and looking closer at what is around you. This increased sensitivity is also important to the process of finding your sign.
After a few days have passed, you will realise that you have seen lots of butterflies. You will notice them everywhere: in tattoos, in photos, in social media, on jewellery or just fluttering past you.
The next step is to notice how many blue butterflies you can spot. Each morning when you wake up, say: “I am going to see lots of blue butterflies today”. This sets the intention, which in turn plants the seeds of desire, which give you results. When phrased in a positive tense, it will help create the results you want. You will use this approach not only on butterflies while you are creating awareness but eventually on your daily goals as well as your future dreams and aspirations. Remember, this process should be fun. Do not get stressed or worry about not finding any blue butterflies. If you have not seen any, then go back to spotting all butterflies and start over.
The next step is to find your own unique sign. Start by writing down a list of all the animals, insects or objects from the world that you like.
Here is a list to get you started:
– Fish – a certain species
– Car – a certain model
– Dog – a certain breed
– Insect – like a spider or a bee or a caterpillar or a dragonfly
– Plant – a specific type
– Flower – a specific type
– The moon
– A star
Also ask yourself the following questions:
– Do I wear animal prints?
– What is my favourite screen-saving animal?
– What animals do I love to see at the zoo?
– What are my favourite animal shows?
– What are the pictures in my house of?

How To Use Your Sign
Hopefully by now you will have found your sign, so now how to use your sign is important. When you see a blue butterfly, SMILE. By engaging your sign with a smile, you create more awareness and connect better with yourself and your feelings.
When we allow energy to come into our lives, we feel empowered. Your sign is your energy. Your sign is your own message to remind you to take time to live in the moment.
When you see your sign, do the following:
– Take a deep breath
– Focus on the sign
– See it for what it is and stop “thinking”
– Imagine that it was placed there just so you could see it
– Accept that it is a message to let you know you are in the right place at the right time
– See around it, through it and appreciate it for what it is
– Feel the energy
So when you encounter your sign, stop thinking and do the following. It’s that simple!
– Smile – equals love
– Breathe – equals awareness
– Yes – equals positive
